I am one of the happy and contented users of Debian, and I use a m/c
which can be comfortably classified as antique - PI/32MB.
I have tried most of the distros available so far, but found Debian 
to be the most comfortable to use. Recently, have shifted from Woody
to Knoppix 3.3, also Debian based.
