Some questions:

This will not be an issue once installation is complete, right?

I don't actually run the Gnome desktop (I use Fvwm), but some of the
applications I use are probably Gnome-based. Does the recommendation 
hold for this scenario also?

In your experience, how easy was it to *install* Woody/Sid? In particular,
was the hardware auto-detection good? After that, I suppose it's a 
question of getting used to apt-get instead of rpm, and perhaps a few
changed file locations?
