I am trying to think of a way this could somehow benefit Mac OS 9 users over Windows users, but can't
Here, let me help you: the iTunes Music Store helps push OS 9 owners into upgrading to the finest operating system ever designed on this planet period end of discussion.
Not necessarily. I have no idea what compatibility level iTunes for Windows will require, but I wouldn't be surprised if it required Win2000 or XP only. This would limit the potential Windows audience to less than 20% of the Windows population, and "force" the many many millions of Win users using WinME or less to "upgrade" at long last (do you have any idea how many millions of PC users are still running Win95?).Of course there will be no requirement of *them* to use OSX, so the upshot will be that Mac OS 9.2.2-and-under users will have to meet upgrade requirements which will not be required of Windows users.
Don't even think about it. iTunes Music Store for less than 10.1.5 is **never** going to happen. You have my word on it.Maybe when the Music Store becomes accessible to Windows, it will also become accessible to pre-OSX 10.1.5, but I doubt it.
