Here's my comment on this matter:


Maybe the "internal modem" is not selected as an option in the Network Pane?

Please go to your System Preferences/Network
Click on the "show" pane and see if "internal modem" is an applicable option
Maybe that would solve your problem


If "internal modem" is not an option, click on the "location" pane and specify "new location"
Name your new location and click "show" again
Click "network port configurations" and click on the "internal modem" option


Maybe that would do the trick..
 I am not a tech support guy but maybe this works..
