That's why I suggested processing photos with your favorite image program before importing them to iPhoto.
Yup. I am a dialup user and that's exactly what I do, then use iPhoto to publish to .mac. Still the easiest way I know to put photos on the web. BTW if you select the "e-mail" option from iPhoto it automatically reduces the image to 640x480 before attaching it to an e-mail. Very handy way to send a quickie e-mail of a high resolution image in iPhoto.
I shoot 2.1 MP and the images are 1600x1200 and 500k. Way to big to put on a web page (unless everyone looking at it is on a highspeed line). So in photoshop I reduce them to medium quality and make them either 800x600 or 640x480. Brings the kb size down to about 40k. Great for dialup users.
