I'm not sure what the original HD size was on your model, but I will say the OSX takes a great deal of space. I have it installed on my older iBook (366MHz / 6 GB) and it squeezed on there after I deleted non-essential applications & left many of the install options off. It is a secondary machine, so it's not a big deal. If this is your main machine, I recommend putting in something larger. You also definitely need to add as much RAM as you can fit / afford. OSX is RAM hungry like you won't believe.

Once that is done, I think you will still find it to be a viable machine to run the new OS. FWIW, I think Panther runs smoother on my older machine than Jag did.

Good luck.

I have an imac 400 mhz dv graphite, 128 ram. Would it be better to upgrade
the internal hard drive or add on a firewire hard drive? Also, I'm still
running OS 9 and would like to upgrade to 10. Any suggestions on what
exactly I should do and what I will need?
