After killing my wifes Imac by installing OSX on it without upgrading the firmware, I have managed to get a copy of a standard OS9 CD.

I go to install it and it says "sorry kind sir but i do believe you need to upgrade your firmware for me to install"

sooooooo, I go to the firmware updates on the CD and try to install it but because I have a blank hard drive it wont install. It needs a working system folder for the firmware updates to
install themselves to.

Now how the hell am I supposed to install the OS to update the firmware if it wont install the OS until i've updated the firmware???????

Catch 22!!!!!!!

Anyone got any idea???

I even downloaded an old version of os7.5.3 i believe it was from apples website and it says "im sorry kind sir but I cannot recognize your hardware"

Many thanks in humble anticipation of anyone at all being able to help me :)

cheers

Oh yes....just to add that I can still install OSX on the hard drive. that installs fine. It just wont boot unless i do the old "hold down 4 keys and reset the PRAM". And its a bit unstable
mainly due to the firmware being out of date.
