Sorry, if I was not clear. I used a CD-ROM drive cleaner, with no noticeable
success. Wish it were not so, though.

Not the CD, the actual drive itself. The cleaning dic looks like a
CD/DVD with a tiny set of bristles. Cleaning an individual CD is always
good, but it wont do a thing if the rive head is dusty.
