When my daughter had problems with her 500 MHz DV SE iMac I partitioned her
hard drive and put OS9.1 (and VPC4) onto one partition and OSX 10.2.8 on the
other.

We have an external FireWire drive for storage, and absolutely no problems.
She restarts the iMac in OS9.1 to run her stuff that requires it instead of
launching "Crasssic" from OSX.

It works so well that we have kept OS9.1 and OSX on completely separate hard
drives in the other computers in the house (B&W G3, Genesis MP 800+).
