1) Only run "Repair Permissions" from the Disk Utility on the hard drive,
not from the old and probably outdated CD. If you run it from the CD you may

2) Just run it while you do your normal stuff. No need to boot from the CD,
no need to stop doing fun stuff: just surf, play WarCraft, iTunes or
whatever. It takes its time, but that is it.
3) Don't delete the files in /Library/Receipts, or you will not be able to
run Repair Permissions properly anymore.

An interesting piece that. Thanks. Is there any chance you could repair the permissions of a file an App is using and crash it by denying it access?
