Chas, I STILL have not seen any evidence that PalmOne will get back in the POS software business by either buying the Missing Sync, or writing their own software. In fact, since Sony has largely dropped out of the pda market, it seems to make more sense that PalmOne and PalmSource merge back together. After all Apple is a combined unit and Microsoft is not; which makes the better product? Again, where will the NEXT Palm Desktop for Macintosh come from? I don't like Entourage, nor do I see the Address Book in Mail replacing it. I LIKED Claris Organizer (an Apple product) which was used as the basis for Palm Desktop for Macintosh; I just wish Apple would update it to an OS X version.
As I've said before, right now my plan is to stock up on T3s when they go on close out. I also expect that MacOS updates will eventually break Palm Desktop for Macintosh, so eventually I'll have to keep one Mac running the last viable Mac OS version. I don't plan on going to Tiger until I've been convinced that the current Palm Desktop will still work.
Do you use Pocket Quicken, Documents-to-Go, Wordsmith, or any SplashData products? Are there iSync conduits available?
All that has happened is that PalmSource has decided not to take on the responsibility of ensuring Mac OS compatibility, leaving it to other entities.
Just like Sony & Garmin. We've seen how that worked out so far; a limited sync capability and Sony pulling out of the market.
The original Palm software was written on Mac OS machines, however, like AOL which also started out as an Apple only service, Palm(whatever), have abandoned their roots and have started treating Mac users as illegitimate children.
All that said, I hope that your information will be proved correct and that the Palms entities will continue to FULLY support the Mac OS. I still would prefer that Apple do something pda-wise.

Dennis B. Swaney
