I did that already. The problem is that I'd prefer a key combination. Those are much less likely to be activated by accident than screen corners.


Just Control+ eject will bring up a restart-sleep-shutdown panel anytime you want.

But I don't want to put my computer to sleep every 10 minutes or so (that'd happen on a hectic day), as it's probably not very healthy for the machine.

You could use Fast User Switching - choose Login Window from the user menu before leaving your desk (there's no key combo for this, but I guess you could set one). You won't be logged out, but you'll have to type your password to get back to your desktop.
