Every Mac user should have a copy of MacLink. Wonderful utility that will open formats you have never heard of and/or long forgotten were still around. MacLink has saved us many a time over the years.
heh. AppleWorks 5 -> AppleWorks 6... What a ripoff. Apple dumped the higher quality clip art library and 2/3 of the translators. Among the more important translators Apple dumped are SYLK, CSV, and all the older MS Word formats.
Spend $80 for the AW upgrade then another ?$99? for MacLink? Just to restore the capabilities we had in AW 5! *grumble*
Your correct, Text Edit an AW will both open word docs.
How?
My housemate is sending me Word 97 and 2002 docs that just don't open. If either TextEdit or AW recognize them at all, they freeze in mid-read.
