Use OS X on a Modern Mac--and I don't mean a G3--and you'll enjoy a world that Windows users only dream about.
In my case that's a serious overstatement. I started using Panther daily three months ago, and it gave me more pain than Windows in the three years prior to that.
Once in a while my mouse stops working and I have to reset the whole system. Once in a while my system won't wake up from screensaver and, again, I have to reset it. Once in a while, when copying something via wireless network, Finder just hangs and I can't revive it other than... yes, resetting the system (relaunching won't help). I can hardly recall problems this magnitude with Windows XP.
On my PC, I never had serious virus or worm problems with Windows XP. Sure, Windows requires me to restart it once in a while, but so does Mac OS X (for example, right now half of the icons are screwed and I have to restart it to make them beautiful again).
Both systems have their share of quirks and problems, and both are comparable in my book. Compared to previous offerings, both are tolerable to say the least. Depends on how you look at it, both or neither of them is "rock solid." But I couldn't honestly say that OS X is really superior to Windows XP when we're talking stability and reliability.
