I can't tell you from your description what is wrong with your setup, but SOMETHING IS WRONG. You can't seriously believe that all of us out here are restarting our machines daily??? Would we have ever moved from OS 9 if that were a typical scenario??
I don't think I said that I have to restart it daily... Weekly is more or less the case.
As for whether it's typical... I read reports about mouse stopping to work and, to my knowledge, nobody found a way to repair it other than rebooting (or logging out/back in, which amounts to the same thing). I read reports about computers not waking up from sleep and again, nobody knows what causes it and what can be done to resolve this. I did not find anything about my Mail problem but then again, I wasn't yet looking.
So, I don't think it's anything new, maybe I'm just unlucky? :) These things do not happen very often, usually once a couple of weeks. Maybe that's the problem, it happens often enough to complain, but not often enough to actually start doing something about it. I also believe that I've been working with computers for so long, that I might be more willing to forgive them. ;)
Somebody off-list suggested memory as a culprit. I will try to look into it. Any suggestions on how I can test it thoroughly? (I have stock 2x256 MB, it's PowerBook, by the way ;) ).
