It depends on who you are comfortable with controlling your life.  Probably 
for you the best of both worlds would be to run your own primary and let 
your ISP run secondary.  Then if you want to add a domain or child domain 
you can just do it. They will track your changes with zone transfers.  It 
is nothing to be afraid of.
