Good morning Scott and everyone else,
<<<scanfrentz.com is broken.>>>>
I need to find a way to get mail to them regardless of whether their DNS
is screwed up or not.
<<<<They have 3 MX records. However, the first one takes a very long
time to
respond, and when it does, reports (in computerese as "421") that it is
rebooting and will be back up shortly.
I believe your only option to get mail to them would be to add an entry
to
your HOSTS file but that can cause problems later.>>>>>>>>>>
Would this be in the hosts file on the imail machine (as in the
system32/drivers/etc folder or a hosts file in Imail somewhere itself?
What would happen if I told the people that need to send mail to this
particular domain to use the address user@IP address of mail server that
works? We are only talking about 5 people in the whole company that send
mail to this domain.
How would I go about getting the IP address of the mail server that is
responding? Nslookup? When I telnetted to one of their mailservers I
actually got the 421 error message from their mail server itself.
Obviously that is not the IP address I would like to use.
TIA,
Sharyn
