I didn't look it up but it's mentioned in the mailing list archives many times. First you need to undo what got hosed by importing the registry key (maybe delete the domain and recreate, I don't know). Then you use the tool to export the users, reformat the file for use with adduser and run it to add the users. Copy over their directories and you should be good to go.
I'll look into that. I don't think though that importing the registry hosed anything. If I go the the domain on the new server and change the database to IMail, the users show and mail works fine, but when I switch it back to external the users disappear again.
