I feel your pain, but with us running 7.15 on a win2k amd XP2000 with 256 pc133 ram and a single 15k rpm ultra scsi 36 gig drive, Declude virus/junkmail and fprot, I can open up a 50 meg mailbox with 20 sub mailboxes in a couple seconds. I'm sure there are also other people with similar experiences. So logic would imply that there is something specific to the people having problems.....
