The server has multiple IP Addresses because it is also a shared web server. I'm not familiar with the "IP aliases" term
one IP is the canonical IP address, and all additional IPs on that physical i/f are aliases.
, unfortunately there are a ton of things I'm not familiar with. :(( But the additional IPs need to be on the server for the web sites.
ok. I find is unusual that an SMTP service would wander around all the IPs trying to send out mail
