The question is not about someone else's innocence, it is about our own practices. Killing a murderer is still murder in and of itself. The fact that they were a murderer as well does not make it right.
I disagree on the etiquette thing as well. The thread of the message is useful. I find it annoying when those that trim trim so much that I have to go back to the archives to find out what the blazes they were talking about.
