SMTP Authentication is not easy with Eudora (for some reason they do not make it easy to set different SMTP servers and ports, etc.).
We use three methods: 1. Authentication with username/passwords 2. Locking down to specific IPs 3. Routing SMTP traffic thru our Cisco Local Director via a virtual IP and a non-standard port #. It really takes a combination of efforts. There is no one solution for all instances of inhouse users, remote field users, those who use Outlook or Eudora or other email clients. On my server, SMTP is apparently working fine when it refuses to authenticate. How IS SMTP Authentication supposed to work, when it DOES authenticate? The docs have the following: "The remote mail client or server needs to provide a correct login in order to relay mail through the server..." Which mail clients can login this way? Apparently, Eudora cannot. best, paul At 09:54 AM 8/19/02 -0400, you wrote: >----- Original Message ----- >From: <[EMAIL PROTECTED] (paul smith)> >To: "inFusion Support List" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> >Sent: Monday, August 19, 2002 9:42 AM >Subject: Re: [iMS] Re: [iMS] > > > > The template is the one you sent.
