To those who are still interested in finding out how far one can go with X using
what comes
in your Linux package, I've just gotten a pointer from the support person from
Turbolinux:
----
XFree86 FAQ document at http://www.xfree86.org:
Q.F16- Mach64 RAGE IILT
Cards based on the Mach64 Rage IILT chipset are supported by the Mach64
server with the option
ChipId 0x4755
----
I am going to try it out tonight. If you also want to try it, let's keep each
other posted.
I've actually gotten something usable at 800x600, except the screen flickers and
the size
does not fit the physical screen. I suspect I may need to enter some detail spec
for the monitor to fix the size problem, but Dell does not seem to provide any
technical information for the monitor, does it?
