This looks an awful lot like faulty hardware. Can these cdrom drives read *any* cd you put in them? Do the machines your trying to install on recognize the cdrom? You can use iostat -En from within solaris (if you've got something already installed on these machines) to check. If not, at the ok prompt you can run probe-ide-all as I recall. Cheers, Glenn
