In 4.5, you can acknowledge an interface via the Interfaces window.
An acknowledged interface will prevent a device from alarming due to
the interface being visible and down. However, there is no way to
permanently acknowledge an interface; it sounds like that is what you
really need.
Wow.. that would be really annoying to have to acknowledge every port on
every switch. Then when there is a legitimate error on that port (other
than it being down) there would be no notification.
If a person reboots their computer, the port goes down and up. If their
computer is off for any length of time, the down port will put the device
in alarm state. I really don't care if the person has shut their computer
off. But if the computer is ON, and there is a link on that port now, and
its at over 90% utilization, then I DO want to see an alarm generated for
the switch.
maybe this phrasing would make more sense.
