Actually the code is now bailing when it fails, so if it's from that, would fail either way at registering the pci device, so probably not the same thing. I'm suspecting the first may be a problem for SMP that should be fixed, but just a a theory, that the i2c xfer timing change somehow could cause problems there.

I'm running a P4 with SMT enabled (poor man's SMP) and have had oopses on 0.3.6g (which is the latest one I've tried). Also I haven't had a picture or sound since the 0.3.2X series (I'm in PAL/BG land and haven't had time to play with it though). I would be interested in investigating the SMP issues but I really don't know where to begin looking. Are there any values which are written to the cards and read back again?
