Possibly related information which I thought I'd throw in here... my system:
Gentoo Linux 2.6.11 Tyan motherboard, Dual Opteron, SMP enabled PVR-350 ivtv-0.3.6f I found I have to comment out references to pci_bus->device and pci_bus->vendor in ivtv-driver.c, else I get an oops. I've been doing this since early on in the 0.3.x series.
