Possibly related information which I thought I'd throw in here... my system:

Gentoo Linux 2.6.11
Tyan motherboard, Dual Opteron, SMP enabled

My system:

Gentoo Linux (kernel 2.6.11(-r9))
P4, 875P chipset, SMP(T)/Preemptive scheduling enabled.
Hauppauge pvr150 retail (model 1046, PAL-BG).

I found I have to comment out references to pci_bus->device and
pci_bus->vendor in ivtv-driver.c, else I get an oops. I've been doing this
since early on in the 0.3.x series.

I was thinking of playing with the spin_lock/unlock and preempt_disable/enable functions around the "offending" parts. Of course one could put a big lock around the complete driver and the refine the search and see what works... I'll see if I can find some time to play with it this weekend. Thanks for the info!

Best regards
