Pff, I've got totally confused. After switching back to 0.3.7a, the
sound came back, but the image was blurry. Then I switched to 0.3.7h
again, and woala, the sound is still present! And the image is also
good. I don't understand what magic happens under the hood...

Many things require a power off/cold boot since not all the registers in
the boards get reset. likewise, running a version which DOES set some
necessary register can make an otherwise broken version appear to work.
Once you think you have something working, always try a COLD boot to see if
it's really working or if some residual setting is helping it work.
