If you want tv-out then the pvr350 is the only choice.

Could it be lack of proper cooling? The PVR350 can get hot.

The latest PVR350 should work out of the box, with the possible
exception of the tuner: the newer Philips Mk5 tuners are not
autodetected by older kernels (<2.6.18). But with a simple ivtv module
option that can be fixed.
