I'm afraid your post adds to the confusion, since you say > LCD while you seem to mean LED display.
Sorry for the typo. I meant LED like in the pictures. Sometimes you don't need the full story to give at least some useful information. Anyways, Marko, you will need at least 11 pins. 7 for the display segments and 4 for multiplexing power to the 7 segment LED displays. Simply rotate power between each of the LED display power pins. You can start by using blocking delay's: "_usec_delay(1_000)" , then move to a timer ISR. timer0 interval should work on it's own with no errors, unless you have modified it.
