I indicated that I am *told* that it appears to work with OE 6. I have
repeatedly said that I am not in a position to do much testing right now,
and certainly not on NNTP. Yes, I am told that it works, but you told
Nicola that it didn't work for you. Either way, NNTP remains an
experimental protocol, and that is reason enough to change the config.xml
entry to:
<nntpserver enabled="false">
as I have put to a vote.

Why? If there is a wire-level protocol issue, just diagnose it.

Since your definition of "working codebase" is not the current codebase,
that represents a lot more than 25 lines. Not to mention the defects in
that prior codebase that lead to it being replaced in the first place.
All of this is just continued justification for disabling the protocol by
default in v2.1.
