I don't entirely agree with you here because if this was the case we would
not be talking about it today. The NNTP code has had bugs in it for months
and months and there has been relatively little feedback from the user base.
I beleive that NNTP will get the attention it deserves once 2.1 is out the
door.
I agree with Noel, turn of NNTP by default in config.xml, document this and
lets get 2.1 out the door. Nothing is stopping us from releaseing a dot
release a few weeks later with the fixes. Meanwhile other developers can
start grinding away at 3.0 as I know many are itching to do.
