Believe me I understand the point as the project I am on has a constraint much lower that a 500Mhz processor ( a P166 with 64MB of RAM...now that is sloooooow ).
My point was that moving forward, say a year from now and the difference in performance will seem even less important. Indeed, with each passing year and new generation of chips the performance arguement loses strength.
