All,

Being a new member of this list, this is pretty disheartening news, to say the least.

On the other hand, this could be an opportunity for the Open Source community
to lend a hand, working with the folks from Sun who are knowledgeable about
the 3D packages and go beyond 1.4.

I guess the questions to be asked first would be: Why is Sun putting this set of
API's on the back burner? Perhaps they see that the basic packages are there
and are looking for third party or open source folks to fill in the gaps. Just a hunch.

Perhaps someone from Sun could fill us in.
