Hey... don't forget the OpenMoko, which is, arguably, even more open than the Android platform and has at least a couple of JVM ports, albeit work in progress. Shame that the software is lagging behind the hardware so much. I have an iPhone but some of my jobs require me to remove my phone battery - can't do that with the iPhone, so the old V3 gets a day out on those occasions - but the OpenMoko will get the nod for these gigs once the software quality is good enough. I amy even go back to C/C++ programming to write some stuff for it in advance of the JVM port arriving...
