As I understand it, it is about subtracting E4 and F4 from H3 - the
original
'balance (carried) forward' - and putting the result or final balance into
the formula which is to occupy G4.

Would be glad to help, but are not sure what you're trying to do. E.g.,

is balance forward? What is pay to? If you can describe in words what
you
are trying to do, I can easily translate that into a formula for you.

Hey Gang,
I'm trying to figure out how to write a formula with excel 2003, but every
time I do, I'm doing something wrong.
Here is what I want.
In cell h3 should be the balance forward, e4 should be payment to, f4
should
be deposits, and g4 is the balance.
Can some one tell me the steps on writing a formula?
I'm using Jaws 8, windows XP, and excel 2003.
