Well depending on what she wants to do if, adding the cells in the columns she should arrow to the blank cell below the last entry . So think she said G cell forget the row number, Then if adding the columns press Alt and the equals sign and excel will add it all up and place the totaled figure in the cell indicated. It will say even all the corresponding cells to be added to obtain the formula. Once this is pressed, excel says the totaled amount and you will hear the word formula.

So if you had A/1
B/1
C/1
full of numbers you wanted to add up, then place your cursor in D/4 and press the Alt and the equal sign and all those will be added and placed into the D/4 cell ----- Original Message ----- From: "Mark" <[email protected]>

Hi Patty,
I believe one types F2 to start entering a formula. Now, I have had troubles with this but as I recall one starts with the = sign. something like =1+2 In your case you would want = a1+b1 or a similar formula. The trouble was I usually got the right answer with an error message saying I was doing it all wrong. So, I hope someone can give you better advice.

God bless,
Mark

Thanks for getting back to me.

What I'm doing is making a check book with the columns
A. check number, B cancel, C. date, D who to, E. payment, F deposit, G.
balance, and cell h3 is the forward balance from last month.
All this is in row 2, and the first row to write in should be row 4.
I don't know how to write the formula in a blank excel table.
Thanks again
Patti

Patti,

Would be glad to help, but are not sure what you're trying to do. E.g.,
what is balance forward? What is pay to? If you can describe in words
what you are trying to do, I can easily translate that into a formula for
you.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Excel 2003 formulas

Hey Gang,
I'm trying to figure out how to write a formula with excel 2003, but every
time I do, I'm doing something wrong.
Here is what I want.
In cell h3 should be the balance forward, e4 should be payment to, f4
should
be deposits, and g4 is the balance.
Can some one tell me the steps on writing a formula?
I'm using Jaws 8, windows XP, and excel 2003.
Thanks for any help you can give me.
Patti
