Maybe some other key is locked dows and adds itself to the combination. What
happens after restart?

Hi Donald, I find this is happening with all of my programs, most notably
in Outlook Express, Internet Explorer and Firefox.
No matter what I do, alt+space will not bring up the system menu, no
matter
what I try.
At first, I thought this might be a Jaws issue, but, from the looks of
things, and what everyone has said thus far, it doesn't seem to be.
Anyone got any ideas?
