If the icon reads like this: not connected you are currently not connected to any networks then your wireless card is off. You will need to know the name of your wireless network so that it can be chosen from a list of available networks Your network should be secured, so you will also need to know the pass phrase and the security type, so that you can enter it manually. Jaws should read all of these dialogues with no problem. If we knew more specific information, I'm sure someone could help further.
