The op has nothing to do with it. All newer laptops and netbooks have this wireless switch. They use it like a quick shutdown of wireless. Now if that switch is off your never going to see any connection regardless of any setting in the control panel or op. Its is hardware specific to laptops and netbooks.

i now have a inspiron 6000 laptop, and have never had a laptop
