Yes.  It needs to happen.  Hopefully sooner than later.  Maybe 1.2.

Yes.

This how you would deploy content under Jetspeed

1.  Write your own Portlet or use one of the stock ones from Jetspeed
2.  Put this portlet in the PortletRegistry:
/content/psml/portletregistry.psml
3.  Usually you would want to put it on the default page which is:
/content/psml/default.psml

That is it... you are done.
