Howard:

The advantages are, 1. that you do not have a permanent Window open for JAWS all the time; and, 2. if you have several program windows open at a time, you do not have to keep pressing ALT+TAB, and extra time, to bypass the JAWS open window.

HTH

Sincerely:

Dave Durber

JAWS key with J opens the JAWS window. Then pull down the Options menu; Alt+O. The first item on the Options menu is Basic. Enter to open it and tab through the settings turning them on or off with the spacebar. One of them is about the system tray.

I've been using JAWS for 17 years and have never had it in the system tray. I would like to know the advantage of putting it there? Thanks.

I just went through the jaws options and couldn't find anything about Jaws
residing in system tray. Can anyone tell me how to get Jaws into the system
tray? Thanks, Judith

Maybe you haven't checked the box in JAWS options to have JAWS reside in the
system tray.

Sure its jaws related. I get a list of jaws keystrokes but no options or
voices.

Is what you get when you press ins+j at least jaws related? Just saying you
get something else isn't much help on that point.

I just tried accessing jaws settings so I can set it to announce all
punctuation. With insert J I'm not getting the usual list of things
to go to like options where I can access voices. Instead I'm getting
a list of other things that aren't applixcable right now. I also want
to set it to announce all spelling errors on a line. It's an editing
thing. Can anyone help? Thanks, Judith
