Hi Mickey,

Thanks. Have made some progress - it now works so long as I don't
restart the SBC...

This seems to have been one of the problems. I changed from channel 9
to channel 4 - my neighbours network is at channel 11 (and seems to
vary between 30%-90% strength); I think that's close enough to cause
interference? After doing this, the (new) SBC connected immediately,
found the SBR and updated its software. It then worked sweetly for all
of two minutes before it all went wrong again :(

(This is real progress, remember I hadn't previously been able to get
the new SBC to connect to the wireless network at all)

After many reboots, and wireless reconfigurations, I think I finally
have recreatable behaviour. When I put the SBR into configuration mode
and get the SBC to configure it, that process goes smoothly and I can
subsequently use the SBC. It's nice and responsive, and works all over
the house. However, if I then shut down the SBC and restart it, it will
usually spin for ever while trying to "connect to Squeezebox". If it
does connect, it then becomes unstable, apparently failing to talk to
the server so hanging at various points of the menu, not getting
coverart or status updates etc.

When it's not working (or unstable) then pinging the SBC drops 80-100%
packets. When it's working, pinging the SBC works perfectly.

I think I'm getting the same behaviour with the older SBC; so this now
feels like a software problem. Both remotes are now on r1879; server is
build 17379.

Thanks,
Ian
