Without wishing to hijack a thread, my experience has been somewhat
similar (so I thought it would be more helpful to chime in here instead
of starting another one).

I've just tried to connect up a new beta Duet, and had all sorts of
horrible problems which I'm sure are due to wireless network issues.

For reasons I won't bore you with, I had two wireless networks on
different channels: on the weaker one, which is the one I wanted to
use, I got lots of very odd behaviour: the SBR seemed to set up ok but
the SBC got itself into all sorts of horrible loops and knots. The SBR
and SBC were close to one another: the SBR, having connected to the
server, was reporting a signal strength around 30.

So I switched to the other one and forced a reconfiguration: this time
everything worked a lot better, the SBR now has a signal strength of
around 98.

My inference is that the wireless performance of the SBR is quite a bit
better than the SBC.

I did try the factory reset as suggested by Micky, but it doesn't seem
to have made any difference.

Another thing: the message you get when the SBC is out of range of the
WLAN is "<playername> is having trouble connecting to <servername>",
which is misleading. The player is fine, its the SBC that's in
trouble!

Also: while messing around with this, I switched off the WAP that the
SBR was connected to: no amount of refreshing at the server would make
it accept that the player had gone away, and the SBC was pretty
confused as well. I had to push the button on the SBR to reconfigure
before sanity returned. This is an unusual case, of course, but it
would be nice if the SC settings page could acknowledge that the device
wasn't there any more.

The good news ... is that fixing this problem has spurred me on to do
something I should have done a month ago, which is to rationalise my
wireless networks (this only recently having become a possibility since
I installed more wiring to solve a different problem!). So I now have a
single WLAN which performs adequately throughout the house, which is a
lot better.
