In view of Phil's comments I have reexamined the behavior of your pages on a Mac running OS X 10.3.8. If Safari is newly opened all your pages seem to function as you intended. However, once a page has been opened, a new page loads (the structure appears), but none of the controlling buttons have any effect. By quiting and reopening Safari you can then effectively use a new page.
Netscape 7.2 does not have this problem; however the background of the applet is black rather than white, as in Safari.
