Yup and yup. It's annoying to me when profitable companies try to avoid
paying for services/SW. Sure, Linux is a good OS for a company, but why
not unpocket for a support contract or enterprise distro? How cheap is
that?

On SVN vs Perforce, I use SVN at home for my projects to get practice
and to remain "simon pure" (as mentioned, single-user Perforce is free
as in beer). But I would consider SVN a close, close competitor to p4 if
it had database implemented tags ... and I can't imagine that they would
be that difficult to hack in. SVN is already Berkeley DB based, so if
you can define an identifiable set of archived artifacts, you should be
able to store their identities in a one-to-many record set:

  label ->> artifacts

But just like the CVS crowd before them, they seem to have become so
attached to their own opinions that they ignore the suggestions of their
user community.

Sad. (I wonder if I do that?)
