I used to use Gandi but switched to godaddy at the recommendation of some kplugger years ago. I think gandi's web interface was a pain to use at the time. Maybe it has improved since then.
I have found godaddy's tech support to be pretty good overall. I have had problems and called their 800 number and got someone on the phone very quickly who was always able to resolve my problem. I'll have to read up on more their latest controversies.
