Wouldn't know. I'm on OS X. Clikcing the magic "Install" button
actually ... you know ... *installed* VMWare--including all of the magic
kernel extensions to handle virtualizing the USB, Ethernet, Audio, etc.
But, then, I'm on OS X. I expect install to actually ... like ... *work*.
This is why I use VMWare instead of Parallels, Bochs, Qemu, etc. It's
called QA. Open source doesn't seem to have heard of it.
