Here is an "out of the box" suggestion.

If the cable is like the cable in the photo, bare wire wound sheath, https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/appages/buttondashctrl.php?clickkey=6815944#productMainImage a similar cable is used on my pull starter.  It uses a course thread nut on each side of a fixture to hold / adjust the sheath in position.  The nuts simply spin on to the sheath.  If these nuts hold firmly enough for your need, run the cable through the rectangular blocks with a nut on each side of the block to adjust / hold the sheath in place.  A lock washer to hold adjustment? Maybe........?
