Here is an "out of the box" suggestion.

a similar cable is used on my pull starter. It uses a course thread nut
on each side of a fixture to hold / adjust the sheath in position. The
nuts simply spin on to the sheath. If these nuts hold firmly enough for
your need, run the cable through the rectangular blocks with a nut on
each side of the block to adjust / hold the sheath in place. A lock
washer to hold adjustment? Maybe........?
